A UFC fighter faces 20 criminal counts pertaining to a fatal car accident last August in Broward County, Florida.
Two people were killed and two others injured on Aug. 18, 2018. The fighter allegedly lost control of his Dodge Durango and wandered into the way of a tractor-trailer, causing a chain reaction crash.
The victims were two senior citizens, ages 67 and 76, and two others were seriously hurt. The fighter suffered only minor injuries.
According to Broward County court records, the fighter faces multiple counts of DUI manslaughter, DUI with serious bodily injury, possession of marijuana, possession of cocaine and driving without a valid license.
The man previously had been involved in a minor accident in Deerfield Beach, Florida, and was ticketed for driving on a revoked or suspended license as well as not being able to provide proof of insurance. In another incident, he was cited for driving with expired license tags and for having mushrooms and marijuana in his car.
In the Broward County case, police said they recovered a metal grinder containing marijuana residue as well as a white powder that tested positive for cocaine. Toxicology reports tested positive for both drugs and alcohol in the fighter’s system.
The man took part in three UFC fights between the time of the accident and his arrest.
