People can also express irritability, either due to the injuries or because of the frustration they cause. A feeling of sadness or an increase in worry and anxiety are also common. Cognitive effects often have a profound impact on a person’s life, especially when they are prolonged. With TBI, problems concentrating often occur, which can make it difficult to focus at work or school. Depending on the area of the brain that has been damaged, a person may also struggle with remembering new information. Thinking can also become muddled or unclear, which makes it difficult to solve problems or make decisions.
