Protecting The Rights Of Injury Victims Since 1987
Biography
William “Billy” J. Wieland, II is a third-generation Florida attorney with deep family roots in Florida’s legal community. Following in the footsteps of his grandfather, Judge Bill Wieland, and his father, Glen Wieland, Billy has established himself as a respected trial attorney representing individuals and families in personal injury and workers' compensation cases throughout the State of Florida.
Before becoming an attorney, Billy graduated magna cum laude from Stetson University in 2007 with a Bachelor of Business Administration and a minor in Business Law. Billy then earned his Juris Doctor from Stetson University College of Law, graduating cum laude in 2010. While in law school, Billy was a founding member of the Defense Research Institute student chapter and served as a law clerk to the Honorable Judge Stan Strickland of the 9th Circuit Court in Orange County, Florida, including assisting on the high-profile Casey Anthony case.
Billy began his legal career working for a large insurance defense firm, representing Fortune 500 companies and major insurance carriers in complex workers' compensation cases throughout Florida. Though successful, Billy realized his true passion was advocating for those in need, not corporations. As a result, in 2016, Billy joined Wieland & DeLattre, P.A. as an associate attorney and shifted his focus to representing injured clients and their families.
In 2020, Billy made history conducting one of Florida’s first virtual nationwide trials during the COVID-19 pandemic, successfully representing a local teacher in claims against her employer. The victory set a precedent benefiting educators statewide and was watched and engaged with by a worldwide audience.
Community service is also a cornerstone of Billy’s life, with Billy having served on the Board of Directors (Vestry) of St. Alban’s Anglican Cathedral, where he volunteered his time and services to support the church and it's outreach initiatives, volunteering with the Orange County Teen Court program, mentoring at-risk youth, and has helped raise hundreds of thousands of dollars for local charities through the Judge Wieland Memorial Golf Tournament and other charitable efforts. Billy also volunteers his time at Give Kids the World, helping disabled children with serious and life-threatening conditions as part of the Make-A-Wish organization.
When he’s not advocating for his clients, Billy cherishes time with his wife and two daughters.
