22-year-old left paralyzed after hit-and-run crash

On Behalf of Wieland & DeLattre | Jun 28, 2019 | Motor Vehicle Accidents |

A 22-year-old from Connecticut who was living in Orlando, Florida, was critically injured in a hit-and-run accident June 15.

The college student was in Orlando working at her dream internship at Disney. According to her sister, the woman was “obsessed with Disney. She’s been trying to get into this college program for probably four years. And, when she got that acceptance letter, we were over the moon for her.” The accident happened only a month after she arrived in the Florida city.

The accident occurred when an alleged drunk driver struck the victim’s vehicle from behind as it was stopped at a stop light. Another person was in the vehicle; however, their injuries were unknown. After the crash, the driver of the other vehicle left the scene, but police were able to catch them.

The woman suffered injuries to her C3, C4 and C5 vertebrae, including severing her nerves completely. A GoFundMe page has been created to help with medical expenses, travel expenses for the family and more.

When tragedies such as this happen, it’s important that the victims and their families turn to an experienced attorney. While you concentrate on your loved one’s recovery, he or she can concentrate on the legal aspects of a personal injury case against the at-fault driver. While there may be criminal charges filed as well, the at-fault party does not need to be convicted in order to be found liable in a civil suit.

Get the legal help you and your loved ones need in order to recover compensation for medical bills, lost wages, pain and suffering and more.
