Know what types of damages you might claim for a crash

On Behalf of Wieland & DeLattre | Jun 4, 2019 | Personal Injury |

Personal injury cases are based on claims of negligence of a party who had a duty to do (or not do) something to keep others safe. This can come up in a variety of places, including accidents involving cars and things like slip-and-fall incidents. All of these kinds of accidents have one thing in common: They cause injuries to someone and the victim has to deal with monetary losses.

If you are injured in an accident that can be attributed to someone else, you might opt to seek compensation through legal means. You might ask for damages to cover the medical bills that you’ve already paid and the ones you will face for the duration of the injury plaguing you. You may also have lost wages that need to be compensated if you had to take time off from work due to the accident. Even the hours that you took off for doctor’s appointments or therapy can count toward this part of your claim.

You might also be able to seek compensation for the personal care assistance you need, such as a home health aide or a driver for your medical appointments. Loss of enjoyment of life and emotional trauma might also be possible additional claims, especially when your accident was severe. It’s also important to remember that your pain and suffering also have value — and it is perfectly reasonable to request compensation for those as well.

It is imperative that we review all the effects of your injury carefully. That way, we can work with you to determine what damages might apply to your case and ask for a fair amount from the other party’s insurance company.
