Hurricane Irma: The Phone Numbers and Information You Need

On Behalf of Wieland & DeLattre | Sep 6, 2017 | Severe Weather |

Hurricane Irma

Hurricane Irma is bearing down on Florida, with current projections showing it knocking right on our front door. Even with the latest meteorological tech in our corner, it is still hard to know just how much this storm will affect us in Central Florida. Even so, as we collect water, store our non-perishables and prepare to reinforce our homes, please be sure to collect the following emergency phone numbers.

Emergency Phone Numbers and Information

  • FEMA: 1-800-462-7585
  • National Flood Insurance: 1-888-379-9531
  • Insurance Company Emergency Numbers: http://www.iii.org/article/insurance-company-claims-filing-telephone-numbers
  • Emergency Radio Stations: http://www.nws.noaa.gov/nwr/coverage/ccov.php?State=FL

  • Updating Weather Reports: http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/

Ensure that you also have the contact information of loved ones physically written down in the case that your phone’s battery dies or your phone is damaged. The same goes for the numbers provided above.

Though the wait-and-see aspect of hurricanes can be nerve wracking, remain calm, stay informed and prepare as much as possible before the storm hits. This is not Florida’s first, and surely will not be its last, run in with a major storm like Hurricane Irma. Though we hope for minimal impact, we must also take Irma’s threat seriously and prepare for whatever may come. Stay safe, Central Florida.
