Typical causes of construction site injuries

On Behalf of Wieland & DeLattre | May 11, 2021 | Workers' Compensation |

It’s no surprise that some jobs are more dangerous than others. Those who work in the Florida construction business know that every day they go to work, they’re putting themselves in danger. It’s not uncommon for construction workers to suffer at least one injury throughout their career in the business. Most of these injuries fall into a handful of different categories.

Falls

One of the biggest causes of injuries that construction workers experience while on the job site is falling. A fall can occur from just a couple of feet up in the air or from a couple hundred feet up in the air. Due to the instability of the working surfaces and the likelihood of working high up in the air, the construction industry is known for workers’ compensation claims regarding falls.

Falling objects

If you watch a construction site for any length of time, you’ll likely see that there are various objects being moved overhead. Large cranes help to move the materials to where they need to be in order for the building to be constructed. Unfortunately, these objects can come falling down when things like straps break. When the objects fall, they can cause severe injuries.

Vehicle-related injuries

Construction sites are full of many different vehicles of all different sizes. As these vehicles maneuver around work sites, they sometimes collide with construction workers. Whether it’s clipping a construction worker as a vehicle goes by or putting the worker between the truck and an immovable object like a wall or building, these vehicle-related injuries can range anywhere from mild to fatal.

Construction sites are some of the most dangerous places to work. Many construction site workers find themselves injured due to falls, falling objects and vehicle-related incidences. If you’ve been injured on the job, it’s advisable to seek an attorney to help with your workers’ compensation case.
